Arsenal Team News: Wenger Confirms Trio Will Be Assessed + Wilshere Update
Arsene Wenger has provided an injury update ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Bournemouth including the latest on Jack Wilshere.
Arsenal will be desperate to get back to winning ways following a disappointing start to the season when we entertain Bournemouth at the Emirates this weekend.
Ahead of the game, Arsene Wenger has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
The boss revealed that three of our first team players will need to be assessed today with Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey and David Ospina all returning late from their international exploits.
Sanchez suffered an apparent ankle injury while training with Chile earlier this week but he still completed the full ninety minutes during their defeat to Bolivia so the attacker will need to be looked over when he returns to London Colney today.
Ramsey got himself among the goals after netting an injury-time strike to secure Wales a 2-0 win in Moldova on Tuesday night while Ospina also turned-out for Colombia during their draw with Brazil so they need to be assessed following their long-haul trips.
We’ll have to wait and see what the medical staff say but Arsenal Station say all three players should be available for selection this weekend which means we’ll have a very wealthy squad as we have no fresh injury concerns to worry about.
One player who is still working his way back to full fitness is Jack Wilshere and Wenger provided an update on the midfielder as he looks to rebuild his Arsenal career once again.
Wilshere has been on the sidelines since suffering a fractured leg while on loan at Bournemouth last season and he’s been slowly stepping-up his recovery in recent weeks.
Wenger says the 25-year-old is looking stronger every day but he still needs to work on his match fitness so it seems unlikely that Wilshere will be involved against the Cherries this weekend.
The boss is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
On how all the players are who have been away
We don’t know yet. Sanchez, Ospina, Ramsey come back today. We’ll see.
We’ll get them all through the door.
On the other team news
I think we have no injures. Everyone is coming back quite well. Wilshere is getting stronger every day.
Overall we have no big injury problems.
On Wilshere featuring against Bournemouth
I don’t know yet. I haven’t decided yet.
He still needs some fitness work. He is in a positive trend, he is getting better and better.
Arsenal have endured a difficult start to the season after suffering consecutive defeats at Stoke and Liverpool before the international break so it’s imperative we get back on track with a win over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
