Arsenal Agree Deal To Sign £92m Liverpool Target On Lucrative 5-Year Contract
Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign £92m Liverpool target Thomas Lemar in January with the attacker set to a five-year contract worth £250,000-a-week
The transfer window is now closed but clubs are already thinking ahead to January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are once again linked with Thomas Lemar…
Arsenal have agreed a deal in principal with Monaco to sign £92m star Thomas Lemar in January with the attacker set to a five-year contract worth £250,000-a-week, according to the Daily Star.
Lemar was once of the transfer sagas of the summer window as the 21-year-old was strongly linked with a move to the Premier League after emerging as one of the hottest young talents in Europe.
The French international provided 14 goals and 17 assists to help fire Monaco to the Ligue 1 title last season and that form attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Gunners were the early front-runners but struggled to agree terms with Monaco before L’Equipe reported that Liverpool had joined the chase after submitting a club-record £74m offer for Lemar’s signature.
Arsenal then launched a stunning deadline day move to try and gazump Liverpool as the Express were one of several newspapers to report that Arsene Wenger had tabled a £90m+ offer for Lemar as he desperately looked for a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez ahead of his proposed switch to Man City.
A deal failed to materialise in the end as there wasn’t enough time to push through such a huge transfer as Lemar was playing for France against Holland on deadline day but both Arsenal and Liverpool have been tipped to renew their interest this winter.
However, it looks as though the Gunners have stolen a march on their rivals as the Daily Star claim today that Arsenal have resurrected their £92m deal and have agreed terms in principal with Monaco to sign Lemar in January.
The newspaper also says the player has agreed a five-year contract worth £250,000-a-week and the deal is not dependent on Sanchez joining City amid claims Pep Guardiola is ready to launch a £30m swoop this winter.
A £92m deal would smash Arsenal’s transfer record and it would be a major statement of intent from the north Londoners if they could secure one of the brightest young talents in European football.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months as there is still plenty of time for Liverpool to muscle in and hijack Arsenal’s proposed deal but I think Lemar would be a superb signing for either club.
