Chelsea Team News: Conte Confirms Trio Will Start Cup Clash + Pedro Injury Latest
Antonio Conte has confirmed the names of three players who will start against Notts Forest plus he’s given an update on Pedro’s injury.
Chelsea will be looking to book their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup when they take on Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Ahead of the game, Anotnio Conte has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s provided a team news and injury update.
The Blues boss was pleased to confirm that Eden Hazard is now considered ready to start his first game of the season after regaining full fitness following a broken ankle.
Hazard suffered the injury while away on international duty during the summer and returned to make substitute appearances against Qarabag and Arsenal over the past week.
However, Conte has now confirmed that the Belgian international is ready to make his first start of the new campaign in their League Cup third round clash tomorrow night.
Conte is quoted as saying by the Express:
“I think for Eden now it is the right moment to start the game and try to play the whole game. I hope to be with him at the final step for the injury.
“I think we have managed very well his situation and in my career I was injured a lot of times and I have a bit of experience about this situation.”
Conte also revealed that Brazilian youngster Kenedy will feature against Forest while Charly Musonda is another player who will be involved in the League Cup game tomorrow as the Blues boss looks to give some of his fringe players a chance.
However, it sounds like Pedro will be given the night off as the Spanish attacker is carrying a knock that forced him off at half-time during the draw with Arsenal on Sunday afternoon but Conte is confident it’s not anything serious.
The Chelsea boss told reporters:
The Italian indicates both Charly Musonda and Kenedy could feature. He says the Brazilian deserves a chance. #CFC
