Arsenal In Pole Position To Sign La Liga Attacker After Holding Talks With Agent
Arsenal are in pole position to sign Arda Turan after holding talks with the Barcelona attackers agent about a potential move in January
The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Arda Turan….
Arsenal are in pole position to sign Arda Turan after holding talks with the Barcelona attackers agent about a potential move in January, according to reports in Turkey via the Daily Star.
Turan earned a move to the Nou Camp in 2015 after enjoying impressive spells with Galatasaray and Atletico Madrid but his time at Barca hasn’t gone according to plan.
The 30-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place having made just 14 La Liga starts last season and was strongly tipped to leave the Nou Camp during the summer window.
A move failed to materialise but Turan has been frozen out by new boss Ernesto Valverde this term and he’s set to push for a transfer in January after failing to play a single minute of first team football this season.
It seems Barca are happy to see him go as the Daily Star claim they will offer him to potential suitors with Galatasaray heavily linked with a move for their former player in recent months.
However, a switch to the Premier League could be on the cards as the newspaper is citing a report from CNN Turk that claims Arsenal are the more likely destination for the midfielder.
The Turkish publication suggests we are in pole position to secure a deal after opening talks with Turan’s agent about a possible move to north London this winter.
Arsene Wenger is going to have to rejuvenate his attacking options with both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil set to leave when their contracts expire next summer and it seems Turan is on his radar.
The Turkish international would be an interesting option as he was excellent during his time with Galatasaray and Atletico Madrid but his poor form since joining Barca is a concern.

He’s primarily been a winger throughout his career but he’s also capable of playing in a more central role so he would give Wenger plenty of options if we did manage to lure him to the Emirates in January.
