Liverpool Boss Confirms Injury Boost Ahead Of Man Utd + Coutinho/Firmino Updates
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed a major injury boost ahead of Liverpool clash with Man Utd while he’s offered an update on Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino
Liverpool will look to get themselves back in the mix for the Premier League title when they take on Manchester United at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime.
Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given a team news and injury update.
The Liverpool boss was pleased to confirm a major boost with the news that Dejan Lovren is expected to be passed fit and available for selection to face United this weekend.
Lovren has been nursing a back injury in recent weeks and missed Croatia’s first World Cup qualifier against Finland during the international break last week.
Klopp says the rest gave the centre-back a chance to recover so he expects Lovren to be in contention for a starting spot when United head to Anfield tomorrow afternoon.
The Liverpool manager also offered an update on the fitness of Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino following their exploits for Brazil during the international break.
Both Coutinho and Firmino represented Brazil during their World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Chile but Klopp says the attacking duo should be fit to start tomorrow after enjoying a comfortable trip back to Merseyside on a private jet.
Klopp told reporters:
Klopp on Lovren playing through pain: "That's why he didn't play first game for Croatia. Few days rest helped him. All looks fine."

Klopp: "The club did everything to bring the boys (Coutinho & Firmino) back. We worked with the other clubs. They should be ok."

It will be a huge relief that Coutinho and Firmino are expected to be fit to start for Liverpool as they’ll have to make-do without influential attacker Sadio Mane after he was ruled out for up to six weeks.
Adam Lallana is still not ready to return from a long-standing thigh injury while Nathanial Clyne is still nursing a hamstring problem so Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold will battle-it-out for the right-back spot.
