Liverpool Team News: Klopp Confirms Double Injury Boost + Latest On Coutinho
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed a major injury blow with the news that Philippe Coutinho has been ruled out of Liverpool’s clash with Huddersfield.
Liverpool will be looking to get back to winning ways after last weekend’s disappointment when they take on Huddersfield Town at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference today and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
The Reds boss offered the latest on the fitness of Philippe Coutinho after reports emerged earlier today claiming he’s been ruled out of action this weekend after suffering an adductor strain.
Several newspapers suggested that Coutinho was certain to miss the Huddersfield game and was also a major doubt for the Champions League clash with Maibor in midweek and the trip to West Ham next weekend.
However, while Klopp confirmed that Coutinho has picked up a fresh injury after recently recovering from a back complaint, the German coach insists a decision hasn’t been taken over his availability this weekend yet.
Klopp also delivered a double injury boost with the news that Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana should be available for selection against after the November international break.
Mane has been out since suffering a hamstring injury while away with the Ivory Coast squad during the last round of international fixtures but it looks like the attacker is closing-in on his comeback.
Lallana on the other hand hasn’t featured this season due to a serious thigh problem but Klopp says the midfielder is already doing warm-up training with the first team so should be in contention again next month.
Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com:
“It’s not clear in the moment [on Coutinho]. Last week he had some back problems before the Tottenham game, but then during the week it settled with treatment and all that stuff, so he was fit for the game.
“This week he had a little bit of problem with the adductor. It’s not clear so far if he is out for tomorrow. We will make the decision today after training.
“He didn’t train yesterday, that’s true, but that’s all for the moment. There are no other new things [injury problem].”
JK: "After the int'l break, I think Adam and Sadio will be back. Lallana did warm-ups for the first time with the team. It looks good"

There is also good news on Gini Wijnaldum as the midfielder has declared himself fit and available for selection this weekend after recovering from a minor knee injury that he picked up in training.
The Dutch international sustained the issue just 24 hours before Liverpool’s defeat to Tottenham at Wembley but he’s made a swift recovery and is in contention to face Huddersfield.
