Brazilian Keen On Move After Chelsea Open Talks To Sign £20m Liverpool Target
Chelsea have opened talks with AS Roma over a potential £20m deal to sign Liverpool target Emerson Palmieri this month, according to reports today.
The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Chelsea make their move for Emerson Palmieri…
Chelsea have opened talks with AS Roma over a potential £20m deal to sign Liverpool target Emerson Palmieri this month, according to reports today.
Palmieri came through the youth ranks at hometown club Santos in Brazil before joining Roma in the summer of 2015 following a season on loan at Palermo.
However, the left-back has struggled to establish himself at the Stadio Olimpico and he’s played just 15 minutes of Serie A football and made just 3 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.
The 23-year-old’s situation has alerted clubs here in the Premier League as the Metro claim Liverpool have been long-term admirers with Jurgen Klopp linked with Palmieri constantly over the last two years.
The Reds boss had been in the market for a new left-back in previous transfer windows, however, the return to form of Alberto Moreno and the emergence of Andrew Robertson means Klopp has failed to step-up his interest in Palmieri.
It seems that hesitance has opened the door for Chelsea as Sky Sports claim the Blues have opened talks with Roma over a potential deal to sign the full-back this month.
The report says Palmieri is keen to secure a move to Stamford Bridge as he wants to work with Antonio Conte while Roma are understood to be willing to do business at around £20m.
Conte has been after a left-back for some time as he wants competition for Marcos Alonso and it looks like the Italian boss is eyeing Palmieri after failing to land Alex Sandro in the summer.

We’ll have to wait and see how negotiations progress but the Brazilian defender could be a solid addition to the Chelsea squad if he can stay fit as he’s been hampered by injuries over the past year.
