The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Liverpool’s move for Nabil Fekir…
Nabil Fekir has been tipped to join Liverpool this summer after the Reds tabled an opening £52.7m offer for the Lyon playmaker, according to various reports today.
Jurgen Klopp is on the market for another attacking central midfielder after failing to buy a replacement for Philippe Coutinho following his move to Barcelona back in January.
Fekir has emerged as a prime target in recent months after impressing for Lyon last season with 23 goals and 8 assists in all competitions to earn a place in the French World Cup squad.
It looks like Liverpool have now formalised their interest as the Daily Star are citing a report from Le Parisien that claims the Reds have opened the bidding with a £52.7m (€60m) offer for Fekir.
The report doesn’t state whether Lyon have responded to the offer yet but the French outlet does suggest that they may delay any further negotiations until after the World Cup as a positive display in Russia would increase Fekir’s value.
That won’t please Liverpool as they want their transfer business wrapped-up ahead of the World Cup but even if they have to bide their time, L’Equipe journalist Erik Bielderman claims Fekir will eventually complete a move to Anfield.
Bielderman is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:
“We do believe that it is going to happen [Fekir joining Liverpool].
“I’m not going to tell you it’s going to happen on a very short basis but it should because it seems quite obvious from the Lyon camp and the Fekir camp, Liverpool is really the first choice.
We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming weeks but Fekir would be an excellent signing for Liverpool if they’re able to get a deal agreed for his signature this summer.

The 24-year-old is predominantly a central attacking midfielder so he could form a mouth-watering midfield alongside Naby Keita and new signing Fabinho at Anfield next season.
