Tottenham To Steal March On Arsenal & Chelsea By Opening Talks To Sign PL Star
Tottenham are ready to steal a march on Arsenal and Chelsea by opening talks with Manchester United over the signing of Anthony Martial
The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Anthony Martial…
Tottenham are ready to steal a march on Arsenal and Chelsea by opening talks with Manchester United over the signing of Anthony Martial, according to reports via the Metro.
Martial was one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe when he joined United from Monaco for an initial £36m back in 2015 and he enjoyed a positive start to his career at the club.
However, the attacker has struggled to establish himself under Jose Mourinho in the last two years and was mainly used from the substitutes bench during the second half of last season after Alexis Sanchez was signed in January.
Martial started just 4 Premier League games following Sanchez’s arrival from Arsenal and was among the players to be publicly criticised by Mourinho at times last season.
The lack of regular football cost Martial dear as he was left out of the French squad for this summers World Cup finals and understandably his future has been cast in serious doubt.
The Metro claim that Arsenal and Chelsea have both expressed their interest in signing Martial as the London duo look to build squads capable of breaking back in to the top four next season.
However, it looks like Spurs are ready to steal a march on their rivals as the newspaper is citing the Daily Mail as claiming that Tottenham are set to open formal talks with United about a potential deal.
Mauricio Pochettino has been promised ample transfer funds this summer as he looks to turn Spurs in to genuine title contenders following their third-placed finish last season.
Martial has emerged as a prime target and the report suggests a move to north London could be finalised swiftly if Tottenham can agree a fee with United. However, that won’t be easy as no doubt the Red Devils still value Martial highly but Daniel Levy is a tough negotiator.

We’ll have to see how negotiations progress and there is obviously still time for the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to step-up there interest but I think Martial would be a superb addition if any of the London trio could snap him up this summer.
