Liverpool Retain Hope Of Signing £70m Star Despite Terms Being Agreed With Rivals
Liverpool are still in the hunt to sign Alisson Becker after AS Roma rejected Real Madrid’s opening £52.5m offer for the goalkeeper
The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Alisson Becker….
Liverpool are still in the hunt to sign Alisson Becker after AS Roma rejected Real Madrid’s opening £52.5m offer for the goalkeeper, according to reports in Spain via TeamTalk.
Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a new number one as Simon Mignolet is expected to leave after falling out of favour while Loris Karius faces an uncertain future after making two costly errors during Liverpool’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid last month.
The young German is expected to stay at Anfield but he’s unlikely to retain the first team jersey as Klopp needs a reliable goalkeeper if Liverpool at to compete for top honours next season and Alisson has emerged as a prime target following two excellent years at Roma since joining from Inter Milan in 2016.
It looked like Liverpool were set to miss out as TeamTalk are citing a report from El Mundo Deportivo that claims the Brazilian international has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid over a five-year contract ahead of a proposed move to the Bernabeu.
However, Liverpool could still be in the hunt for Alisson’s signature as the Spanish outlet says Roma have rejected Madrid’s opening £52.5m [€60m] offer and are demanding the full value of their £70m [€80m] valuation.
It remains to be seen whether Madrid will return to meet Roma’s asking price but until an agreement is found Liverpool still have a chance to sign Alisson and he’d obviously be a superb addition to Klopp’s squad if they could lure him to Anfield.

However, the fee would no doubt also be a stumbling block for Liverpool as £70m is HUGE money for a goalkeeper so I think Roma will have to lower their demands if the Reds are to sign the 25-year-old this summer.
