The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Man Utd are linked with William Carvalho….
Arsenal and Manchester United are leading the race to sign William Carvalho on a free transfer after he terminated his contract with Sporting Lisbon, according to the Sun.
Carvalho has been with Sporting his entire career after joining the clubs youth system in 2005 and he’s developed in to one of the best midfielder’s in Portuguese football since breaking in to the first team set-up in 2013.
The 26-year-old has been constantly linked with a move to England in recent transfer windows and it looks like he could finally be coming to these shores after cancelling his contract with Sporting.
Carvalho was one of a number of players who were attacked by angry fans at the clubs training ground last season and he’s now joined the likes of Gelson Martins, Rui Patricio and Bruno Fernandes in terminating their contracts citing ‘just cause’.
The situation has alerted clubs throughout Europe who are eyeing bargain swoops for the Sporting stars and the Sun are citing a report from Record that claims Arsenal and Man Utd are leading the chase to snap-up Carvalho on a free transfer.
New Gunners boss Unai Emery is revamping the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger and a new midfield anchor man is on the agenda as Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere have decided to leave Arsenal when their contracts expire at the end of the month.
Carvalho is seemingly on Emery’s radar but Jose Mourinho is also on the look out for further reinforcements in midfield as Michael Carrick has retired while the futures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera are uncertain so United are also reportedly eyeing a bargain swoop for the Portuguese international.

Obviously Carvalho could be an excellent signing for Arsenal or United if they could win the race for his signature and he should make a decision over his future once he’s finished representing his country at the World Cup.
