Chelsea Target Holds Talks With Jurgen Klopp After Liverpool Table Mega £53m Bid
Chelsea target Alisson Becker has held talks with Jurgen Klopp about a move to Anfield after Liverpool tabled a £53m offer for the Roma keeper
The summer transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are closing-in on Chelsea target Alisson Becker…
Chelsea target Alisson Becker has held talks with Jurgen Klopp about a move to Anfield after Liverpool tabled an offer worth an initial £53m for the Roma goalkeeper, according to various reports today.
Alisson has been one of the most sought-after keepers in Europe this summer after starring for Roma since joining from Inter Milan two years ago and he played a key role in helping his club reach the semi-finals of the Champions League last season and was selected as Brazil’s No.1 at the World Cup.
Liverpool have been strongly linked with the 25-year-old in recent months but appeared to shelve their interest after being put off by Roma’s hefty valuation and there was talk that Klopp was ready to keep faith with Loris Karius.
However, the German youngster’s confidence is rock bottom following his horror-show against Real Madrid in the Champions League final and he made another gaff during Liverpool’s friendly with Tranmere last week, so it looks like Klopp has finally given up on the 25-year-old.
Speculation over the past 24 hours has suggested that Liverpool have renewed their interest in Alisson and the keeper caused a stir on social media after removing Roma from his Instagram bio while his agent, Ze Maria Neis, also raised a few eyebrows after ‘liking’ a photoshopped image of Alisson in a Liverpool kit.
It seems things have got serious as the Liverpool Echo are one of several media outlets reporting today that Liverpool have now submitted an official offer for Alisson’s signature worth £53m up front with a further £9m coming in performance based add ons.
The newspaper says that Chelsea – who have also been strongly linked with Alisson recently – are reluctant to pay that kind of money for the goalkeeper but Liverpool’s offer will force them to show their hand.
The Blues are in the market for another goalkeeper amid intense speculation linking Thibaut Courtois with a move to Real Madrid and Alisson has been identified as a possible replacement for the Belgian international.
However, Liverpool are now in pole position and the Express are citing a report from Gianluca Di Marzio that claims Alisson has already held talks with Klopp about a move to Anfield this summer.
The newspaper says Roma are yet to respond to Liverpool’s opening bid but although they are holding out for a fee closer to £66m, an agreement is close to be finalised over what would be a world-record deal for a goalkeeper.
