Liverpool To Launch Fresh Swoop To Sign 6ft 2in Defender After Failed Summer Bid
Liverpool are expected to launch a fresh attempt to sign Modibo Sagnan in January after seeing their bid to land the Lens defender fail this summer
The Premier League transfer window may be closed but European clubs can still buy from English teams and managers are planning for the future so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip. Today, Liverpool are linked with Modibo Sagnan….
Liverpool are expected to launch a fresh attempt to sign Modibo Sagnan in January after seeing their bid to land the Lens defender fail this summer, according to reports via TeamTalk.
Sagnan has been with Lens his entire career after joining the clubs youth system as a youngster and he progressed through the ranks before breaking in to the first team set-up during the second half of last season.
The 19-year-old has only made a handful of senior appearances for the Ligue 2 outfit since being promoted to the first team squad but he’s highly-rated in his homeland and it appears Sagnan’s potential has caught the attention of scouts at Anfield.
TeamTalk cite a report from France Football that claims after trying to sign the 6ft 2in centre-back last January, Liverpool made a renewed attempt to land Sagnan this summer but their advances were once again knocked back by Lens.
The defender still has two years left to run on his contract and Lens are determined to keep hold of him but the report says Liverpool are lining-up a fresh bid to try and lure Sagnan to Merseyside ahead of the 2019 January transfer window.
The teenager is predominantly a central defender but he can also play at left-back and he’d be another talented youngster to add to Jurgen Klopp’s impressive squad if a deal could be agreed this winter.

Sagnan would obviously face a tough time getting in to Liverpool’s first team any time soon and he’d be considered as ‘one for the future’ but his path could become a little clearer with Ragnar Klavan tipped to leave Anfield before the end of the month.
