Liverpool Team News Update: Klopp Confirms Injury Boost Ahead Of Crystal Palace Trip

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed an injury boost ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Crystal Palace on Monday night but two other players remain out.

Liverpool will look to build on their impressive start to the season when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night.

Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s provided a full team news and injury update ahead of the game.

The Reds boss has confirmed a boost with the news that Joel Matip is expected to return to the squad on Monday after missing the opening weekend win over West Ham with a hip injury.

Matip has been carrying the injury in recent weeks but came through 60 minutes during a behind closed doors friendly in midweek and is now ready to be named in the squad against Palace.

The Cameroonian international’s return is well timed as fellow centre-back Dejan Lovren is still out as he’s continues to recover from a pelvic injury that he’s been carrying over the past few months.

Lovren aggravated the issue while playing for Croatia at the World Cup finals this summer and the injury failed to heal during his holiday but Klopp is hopeful the defender won’t be on the sidelines for too much longer.

The Reds boss told reporters:

Ragnar Klavan won’t be available against Palace as he’s set to complete a move to Cagliari this weekend while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is obviously still out as he continues to recover from a serious knee injury.

Klopp could stick with the same side that beat West Ham 4-0 last weekend but Fabinho will be hoping to make his full debut while the likes of Jordan Henderson, Xhedran Shaqiri and Adam Lallana are also pushing for recalls.
