Crystal Palace vs Liverpool | Team News | Likely Line-Ups | Predicted Score | Betting
Here is our match preview ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace including team news, expected line-ups and predicted score
Liverpool will look to build on their impressive start to the season when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park this evening.
The Reds have been widely tipped to be Manchester City’s closest rivals for the Premier League title this season and they certainly lived up to that billing after thrashing West Ham 4-0 last weekend with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane among the goalscorers.
Jurgen Klopp is under pressure to mount a serious title challenge after splashing the cash this summer and they’ll need to get positive results against sides like Crystal Palace if the Merseysiders are to challenge City.
However, Roy Hodgson will be looking to get one over his former side tonight and Palace also made an impressive start to the new season with a 2-0 win at Fulham last week so they’ll be keen to build on that result on home soil this evening.
Team news
Liverpool are expected to welcome Joel Matip back in to the squad for the first time since March after he recovered from a hip injury but he may have to make-do with a place on the bench with Joe Gomez impressing last week.
Summer signing Fabinho is pushing to make his full debut in midfield while Jordan Henderson is also hoping to be recalled after being named among the substitutes against West Ham.
Dejan Lovren has been ruled out while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continues to recover from a serious knee ligament injury that he suffered last season.
Palace have no fresh injury concerns so Hodgson has a full-strength squad to choose from and summer signing Max Meyer is hoping to make his full debut.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool: After losing three in a row, the Reds have won four of their last five games against Palace including their last three visits to Selhurst Park so they should be confident tonight. Klopp’s side looked impressive against West Ham and although I expect a tougher game against Hodgson’s side, I fancy Liverpool to edge it.
