Arsenal Team News Update: Club Reveal Comeback Plans For Koscielny, Kolasinac & AMN
Here is the latest team news on Arsenal stars Laurent Koscielny, Sead Kolasinac, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Carl Jenkinson.
Arsenal will be looking to kick-off their Europa League group stage campaign with a win when we welcome Vorskla to the Emirates on Thursday night.
Ahead of the game, the club have offered an update from the treatment room with Arsenal.com providing an insight into when we could see Laurent Koscielny, Sead Kolasinac, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Carl Jenkinson making their comebacks.
Koscielny has been on the sidelines since rupturing his Achilles tendon during our Europa League semi-final second leg defeat to Atletico Madrid at the back end of last season.
The French international has been stepping-up his rehabilitation in recent weeks and was back working with the ball on the training pitches earlier this month. As long as he doesn’t suffer any set-backs, Koscielny should be back in full training at the start of November which would be a huge boost.
Kolasinac is yet to feature this season after suffering a knee ligament injury in pre-season and the full-back was initially not expected to return until towards the end of October. However, the Bosnian international has made good progress in his recovery and is now on-course to being back in full training early next month.
Maitland-Niles has been out since fracturing his leg during the opening weekend defeat to Manchester City but the versatile midfielder has made excellent progress and is now well ahead of schedule. The youngster was due back in November but should be in full training in early October.
The final update was on Jenkinson and the out-of-favour right-back is hoping to be back in training at some point in October or November after suffering a serious ankle injury at the start of the season.
Here is the update from Arsenal.com:
Sead Kolasinac
Left knee injury. Progressing well and now expected to return to full training in early October (initially aiming to return during the month of October).Ainsley Maitland-Niles
Small fracture to left fibula. Progressing well and now expected to return to full training in early October (initially aiming to return to training in November).Carl Jenkinson
Significant sprain to right ankle. Aiming to return to training in October/November.Laurent Koscielny
Right Achilles tendon repair. Started working outside. Aiming to return to full training in November.
It will be a huge boost to have Koscileny back in November as our defence has been woeful this season and he should tighten things up at the back. It will also be good to have Kolasinac and Maitland-Niles available again next month as we’re low on options at left-back with Nacho Monreal currently our only senior choice.
