Predicted Man Utd line-up against Ipswich Town

Manchester United are set to host newly promoted side Ipswich Town at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

After finishing last campaign on a promising note, optimism was high ahead of this season, but the Red Devils suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to newly promoted side Hull City in the league last weekend.

On the other hand, the Tractor Boys have enjoyed a bright start under new manager Gary O’Neil this season, winning the first two games in two different competitions.

Team news

United have revamped the engine room by purchasing Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba this summer following Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s serious knee injury.

However, the Cameroonian has an ankle problem and won’t be available for a few more weeks. On the other hand, Amad Diallo sustained an injury ahead of the Hull game; as a result, he wasn’t ready to feature last weekend and is set to remain sidelined for a bit longer. Matthijs de Ligt is also unavailable for selection due to his back problem.

After picking up an injury against Paris Saint-Germain in pre-season, Mason Mount has been sidelined in recent weeks, but he is ready to be involved this weekend.

Predicted line-up

Senne Lammens is set to keep hold of his place in goal; therefore, Karl Darlow would be among the substitutes. Harry Maguire should continue in defence, and Lisandro Martínez might get the nod to start alongside the Englishman vs Ipswich. So, Ayden Heaven would have to settle for a place on the bench.

Noussair Mazraoui started in the right-back position last weekend, but Diogo Dalot may commence ahead of the Moroccan this time around. On the other hand, Luke Shaw should be on the opposite side.

After starting on the bench last time out, Kobbie Mainoo might get the nod to start in midfield alongside Tielemans in this game. So, Santos and Mount would have to make do with a place on the bench.

Bruno Fernandes is set to be in the CAM role, and on either side of him, Marcus Rashford and Bryan Mbeumo could start. Matheus Cunha may lead the line for United. In that case, Benjamin Sesko should feature off the bench.
