Certainly in Argentina – and I guess therefore in Uruguay – I have heard people calling a friend “negro” (in Spanish) as a term of affection (a little like “mate” in English). It really depends on how the term is used and I would be very surprised if Suarez (a boy of humble origins) used it in an offensive fashion. The very fact that he used it repetitively (Evra suggests that Suarez called him something on more than ten occasions) suggests that Suarez was indeed using it in the sense of “mate” totally oblivious to any other interpretation Evra might have given to it at the time or after the game.

Bull s**t! If there is any truth to Suarez using such an offensive term on that day in that match, he would have done it with a malicious intent.

Dont particularly like Evra or Man U but this Suarez guy is a scumbag. They should ban the horrible little cheating nazi for life. No place for disgusting people like him, he has been in Europe for years and would have to be stupid not to know ‘negro’ is an offensive term for black people here. Looks like playing the dumb victim card has bit him on the arse.

You are in England now and that kind of offensive language is not permissable. Luis and other foreigners to these shores should be educated on that. As for Evra, he was sh*t scared of Suarez and his dribbling skills.

Sorry Jamaal but you must be really on another planet. Negro is NOT an offensive term for black people here it’s actually a quite legitimate term for racial origin. Other words of a similar nature may be very offensive although my black friends Do call them each other which is strange. However calling someone a Nazi is very offensive and YOU should be ashamed for using the term.

If Suarez called him that then what did he expect? Playing dumb saying it isn’t offensive isnt fooling anyone, as he has been in europe long enough to know better. Lets hope the racist gets the big ban he deserves. Liverpool fans should be ashamed putting their club before morality, its disgusting and classless.
Kick Racism out of Football.

Jamaal ur an Idiot,
Scumbag and Nazi, I think ur a racist.
Bottom line ” What Colour is Suarez ?”
As for calling a black man a Negro or Negrito as calimed that is not racial abuse.
I think the world is getting off on the new era of suing people over this and yet all the names aimed at white people have never turned up in a news paper or a court.

Re: Jamaal/Gio
Playing in Europe? What the feck are you on about – Spain isn’t part of Europe then you pair of ijeets?
Those that don’t speak Spanish fluently have nothing intelligent to say on this subject and that includes Evra…I just hope the old farts at the FA don’t think they know better about something that’s wholly dependent on interpretation of a foreign language…

RE Pablo
So Evra wasn’t intelligent enough to know that Suarez was talking nice to him ? Should send him to do the Liverpool University Course on Spanish Urugayan endearments that Mr Dalglish obviously has done !
