Liverpool have fought off interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea for the signature of 14-year-old teenage star Seyi Ojo. The signing has reportedly cost the Reds a fee in the region of £2 million.
The former MK Dons youngster came close to joining Chelsea but the Liverpool scouts took everyone by surprise by making a last-ditch bid to lure Ojo to Anfield. MK Dons chairman Peter Winkelman said of the move:
This is the opportunity of a lifetime for Seyi [Ojo] and his parents which has proved far too difficult to turn down.
There has been a lot of interest and speculation regarding Seyi which he has coped with admirably.
Despite being at just a mere age of 14, the teenager has managed to catch the attention of several big clubs by winning two England Under-16 caps. Besides, Ojo has also featured in MK Don’s Under-18 team last year (when he was only 13).
