Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain would be interested in discussing a move away from Real Madrid, according to reports today.
Andre Villas-Boas is keen to add another striker to his ranks after seeing his striking options diminish in recent weeks. Nicolas Anelka will be moving to China when the transfer window opens, and Ivorian duo Didier Drogba and Soloman Kalou will be off to the African Cup of Nations in January. This will leave the Chelsea boss with just Daniel Sturridge and the out-of-form Fernando Torres to choose from up front.
The Londoners have therefore been on the look out for a new striker and been alerted to Higuain’s situation, with the Argentinean ace becoming increasingly frustrated with his bit-part role at the Bernabeau.
Higuain has seen his first team chances limited following his return from injury, with Jose Mourinho now preferring Karim Benzema up front. A ‘source’ in a mainstream newspaper is quoted as saying that Higuain would be willing to consider his options should an offer come in:
‘Higuain is unhappy at being left out all of the time. He wants to fight for the title but was on the bench against Barcelona at the weekend when Real lost 3-1 and he knows where his place is now.
‘He would be interested in what people have to say to him.’
It’s beleived Madrid would consider an offer in the region of €36m for the 24-year-old.
