Liverpool ended their wait for silverware after claiming the Carling Cup 3-2 on penalties after the match with Cardiff ended 2-2.

The Bluebirds took a shock lead through Mason but Skrtel levelled in the second half to make it 1-1. Sub Kuyt put the Reds ahead in extra time before Turner sent the match to penalties after scrambling home a last minute equaliser. Gerrard and Adam were among the players to miss from the spot before Anthony Gerrard missed the crucial kick to hand Liverpool their first trophy in almost six years. Watch video highlights here:
