Blackburn vs Liverpool: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted score
Liverpool take on relegation strugglers Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park tonight. Here’s a preview of the game with team news, likely line-ups and predicted score
Liverpool take on relegation strugglers Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park tonight looking to close the gap on seventh placed Everton.
Kenny Dalglish’s side have plummeted down the Premier League table after a disastrous run which has seen them collect just 9 points from the last 39 available. A 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday left the Merseysiders in eight place, four points behind Everton. The two sides meet in the FA Cup semi finals at the weekend, so Liverpool will be keen for a morale boosting win ahead of the game.
Blackburn remain in the bottom three on goal difference but can climb up to 16th if they avoid defeat tonight. Liverpool have an excellent record against Rovers and have only lost twice in their last 26 league games against their North West rivals. However, the Reds have lost six of their last seven away games so will have to change their recent form if they’re to maintain that record.
Team news
Steve Kean will be without Anthony Modeste, who is suspended following his sending off against West Brom on Saturday. Defender Martin Olsson should be fit to start despite picking up a shoulder injury at the weekend.
Daniel Agger is likely to return for Liverpool after recovering from a rib injury and made his return against Villa on Saturday as a second half substitute. Kenny Dalglish may decide to give Andy Carroll a start after leaving him on the bench in recent weeks.
Alex Doni will continue to deputise for Pepe Reina, who serves the second of his three match ban after seeing red against Newcastle. Flanagan will once again start at right back with both Kelly and Johnson out through injury.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
Blackburn are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table, while Liverpool have very little left to play for in the league and may have one eye on Saturday’s FA Cup semi final with Everton. Therefore, we can see Rovers taking something from the game and getting themselves out of the bottom three. Blackburn 1-1 Liverpool.
