Tottenham Transfer News: £4m Defender Expected To Sign
Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of West Brom centre back Jonas Olsson, with a £4m deal expected to go through after the European championships.
The summer transfer window is open and Football Talk will bring you all the latest Tottenham transfer news. Today, Spurs are linked with a move for a West Brom defender.
Tottenham are closing in on the signing of West Brom defender Jonas Olsson, according to the Mirror.
The 29-year-old moved to the Hawthornes from NEC Nijmegen in 2008 and has gone on to make 129 appearances for the club. However, the centre back has only one year left on his current contract and talks over an extension have so far stalled.
Olsson is currently away with the Swedish national team at the European championships and is preparing to meet England in their Group D clash on Friday.
The Mirror claim that Harry Redknapp is confident of sealing a £4m deal this summer, with the experienced defender also keen on a move to White Hart Lane.
Spurs are desperate to strengthen their back line with question marks over the futures of both William Gallas and club captain Ledley King. King’s career has been blighted by a series of knee injuries and has only been offered a pay-as-you-play deal for next season while Gallas, who turns 35 in August, may leave this summer.
The Mirror suggest a deal for Ajax captain Jan Vertonghen is also on the cards but Olsson would provide much-needed competition along with Younas Kaboul and Michael Dawson at the back.
