Luigi: No Tottenham Move For Damiao
Internacional have dismissed reports that Tottenham are in talks to sign Leandro Damiao and warned them it will take an ‘extraordinary’ offer to make them sell
With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Internacional deny talks with Spurs for Leandro Damiao.
Internacional have dismissed reports suggesting Tottenham are in talks to sign Leandro Damiao and warned the Londoners it will take an ‘extraordinary’ offer to make them sell the striker, according to Sky Sports News.
Tottenham have been long-term admirers of Damiao and have had at least one bid for the player turned down in the past.
Recent reports have suggested the Premier League outfit are back in for the Brazilian striker and have send a delegation to South America to thrash out a deal.
However, Internacional president Giovanni Luigi has insisted he has no plans to meet with anyone from Tottenham regarding the 23-year-old and claims they have no intention to sell unless an offer too good to refuse comes in.
“There isn’t any Tottenham representative here, and nothing is scheduled,” he told Globo Esporte.
“The ones that have been coming here are agents. Leandro Damiao was top scorer in the Olympics. I have nothing scheduled with Tottenham.
“Internacional want to keep Leandro Damiao. He’ll leave only if there is an extraordinary offer.”

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to add another striker to his ranks before the transfer window closes at the end of the month but it’s unlikely to be Damiao as Luigi has previously claimed it would take an offer of around €60m (£47million) to persuade them to part ways with their star man.

Damiao had a superb Olympic Games with Brazil, getting all the way to the final before being beaten 2-1 by Mexico, with the striker finishing as the tournaments top scorer with 6 goals.
