Liverpool Tempted By Cut-Price Argentinean Midfielder Deal?
Liverpool have been told they can sign Anderlecht’s Argentinean midfielder Lucan Biglia in the summer for a cut-price £4.5million, according to the Daily Mail.
Despite the transfer window now being closed there will still be plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool can land Lucas Biglia for just £4.5m.
Liverpool have been told they can sign Anderlecht’s Argentinean midfielder Lucan Biglia in the summer for just £4.5million, according to the Daily Mail.
The 27-year-old has been with Anderlecht since joining them from Argentinean outfit Independiente back in 2006 and has gone on to captain the side and make over 180 appearances for the Belgian champions.
However, his stock has fallen this season after a fallout with the club and he was recently slapped with a suspension after going AWOL and returning home to Argentina in January with the Mail suggesting he was trying to force a move to the Premier League.
Anderlecht’s managing director Herman van Holsbeck has now confirmed they are ready to sell the midfielder in a cut-price deal in the summer:
‘If we get 5.5m euros for Biglia during the next transfer window, we will be happy.’ van Holsbeck is quoted as saying by the Mail
The newspaper suggests Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keeping a close eye on Biglia’s situation and may make a move in the summer, but could face competition from the likes of Southampton, Napoli and Fiorentina.

Biglia has won seven caps for Argentina during his career so he clearly has some talent but with Steven Gerrard, Lucas Leiva, Joe Allen, Jordan Henderson and Jonjo Shelvey all vying for starting spots in the middle of midfield, it’s difficult to see where he’d fit in at Anfield.
He would be an extra option but I don’t feel he’s a great improvement to what Brendan Rodgers already has available to him. For Liverpool to move to the next level, I feel they need to be trying to sign players of greater quality than Biglia.
