Arsenal After 37-Goal Hitman But Wenger Would Prefer To Splash £6m On Frenchman
Arsene Wenger is clashing with the Arsenal board over whether to make a move to sign Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony or QPR hitman Loic Remy this summer.
With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal are linked with Wilfied Bony and Loic Remy.
Arsene Wenger is clashing with the Arsenal board over whether to make a move to sign Wilfried Bony or Loic Remy this summer, according to the Daily Star.
The report claims Wenger has had his eye on Queens Park Rangers striker Remy for some time but pulled out of a January move due to concerns over the players injury record. The French international eventually signed for Harry Redknapp’s QPR and has proved to be an astute signing, scoring 5 goals in 12 appearances.
It seems he’s done enough to persuade Wenger to finally make a formal move with the Star suggesting the boss wants the board to sanction a £6m bid for the 26-year-old at the end of the season, which will be enough to trigger the strikers relegation release clause.
However, the newspapers claims that the Gunners hierarchy would prefer to sign Vitesse Arnhem’s Ivory Coast hitman Bony, who could be available for around £7m this summer following a stunning season in Holland where he’s scored an incredible 37 goals in just 32 starts.
The 24-year-old is desperate to play in the Premier League, recently saying:
“I’m very interested in the Premier League and the atmosphere in England, it’s a wonderful league and we will see what happens.
“For me the Premier League is the top league in Europe but the Bundesliga is also good. France, Italy and Spain, they’re all good too but England I think would be perfect.” Bony is quoted as saying by the Star
It’s a difficult one. Remy has the advantage of Premier League and Champions League experience but you can’t argue with Bony’s goal-scoring record this season. Personally, I’d be happy for either to sign for Arsenal this summer as long as we also signed another versatile forward such as Stevan Jovetic.
