Liverpool entertain Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon for what’s being billed as a potential Premier League title decider.
Ahead of the game, boss Brendan Rodgers has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon and gave Liverpoolfc.com a team news and injury update.
The Northern Irishman was pleased to confirm the good news that defender Daniel Agger has been passed fit for the game and will be back in contention to face their fellow title rivals. The Danish international missed last weeks 2-1 win over West Ham at Upton Park with a knee problem but has trained this week and could come straight back in to replace Mamadou Sakho in the back four.
The vice-captain’s return means that Rodgers has virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from with only long-term injury victim Jose Enrique missing, as the Spaniard is likely to miss the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.
Rodgers told the clubs website:
“Everyone is fit – Daniel Agger is back into the squad,”
“Only Jose Enrique is out. We have 20 players fit and raring to go.”
Liverpool currently hold a two point advantage over second-placed Chelsea with City a further two points adrift, so the Merseysiders can put some real daylight between them and their rivals with a win at Anfield this weekend.

However, defeat would be a major blow to their hopes of winning their first ever Premier League title as the Citizens would move to within just one point with two games in hand.
