Arsenal Hope To Wrap Up €77.5m Triple Swoop
Arsenal Wenger is hoping to pull off a triple swoop for Lars Bender, Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy that will set the club back in the region of €77.5m
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Gooner Mac brings us news of a triple swoop by Arsenal.
Arsenal boss Arsenal Wenger is hoping to pull off a sensational triple swoop for Lars Bender, Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy that will set the club back in the region of €77.5m, according to the Telegraph.
Speculation has been intensifying over our pursuit of Sanchez with reports suggesting that we are on the verge of beating Liverpool to the attackers signature after agreeing a €40m (£32m) fee with Barcelona.
The Telegraph claim that the Chilean international has indicated his preference would be to move to North London and personal terms with the player have been agreed in principal. If that’s the case then it appears all that remains is to formalise the deal but that is being complicated by Barca’s move for Suarez as they are unlikely to sanction Sanchez’ sale until they wrap up the controversial Uruguayan hitman.
The second deal that is progressing well if that of Debuchy with the report suggesting that we are close to agreeing a deal with Newcastle United worth in the region of €12.5m (£10m) for the 28-year-old right-back.
He would be an excellent replacement for Bacary Sagna as he has plenty of Premier League experience and wouldn’t pose a long-term threat to Carl Jenkinson, so I think he’ll prove to be a shrewd purchase by Wenger if we get it over the line.
The third player on the bosses radar is Bender, with the Telegraph claiming that we have renewed our interest in the midfielder after Bayer Leverkusen rejected our £19m bid for the player last summer.
Wenger is believed to be on the look-out for a long-term replacement for Mikel Arteta this summer and the newspaper suggests Bender is the bosses main target but any potential deal is likely to cost at least €25m (£20m).
The 25-year-old was expected to be named in Joachim Low’s World Cup squad but was ruled out with a thigh injury, but I think he’d be a superb addition to the squad if we can manage to lure him to the Emirates.
We desperately need an athletic ball-winning defensive midfielder to compliment the likes of Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey next season and the German would fit the bill nicely.

It’s been a slow start to the transfer window but it looks like things are starting to move and I think we’d be in excellent shape if we could pull off the triple swoop for Sanchez, Bender and Debuchy. Hopefully we will see at least one of the deals, if not two, finalised this week as it’s important we get players in soon with some of the players back in for pre-season training as of today.
