Man Utd To Complete Latest Big-Money Signing On Wednesday

Man Utd are set to finally complete the signing of Pedro Rodriguez next week and are expected to unveil the €30m-rated Barcelona attacker on Wednesday

With the summer transfer window in full swing, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the new season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd close in on Pedro…

Pedro-Rodriguez-Barcelona

Manchester United are set to finally complete the signing of Pedro Rodriguez next week and are expected to unveil the €30m-rated Barcelona attacker as their latest new addition on Wednesday, as reported by the Mirror.

Louis van Gaal is on the look out for another creative player after agreeing to sell Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain last week and Pedro has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months.

Sport reported on Friday that Barca officials were due to arrive in Manchester on Saturday to hold further negotiations after United chief executive Ed Woodward had supposedly been out in Spain last week trying to thrash out a deal.

It appears those talks have gone well as the Mirror are carrying a report from Marca which claims that United are expected to complete Pedro’s signing next week and will unveil him as their latest big-money addition on Wednesday.

The reason for the hold up is that Barca are adamant Pedro is available to play some part in their Super Cup clash with Sevilla on Tuesday night as Neymar has been ruled out and Lionel Messi still isn’t 100% match fit having arrived back late for pre-season training.

Boss Luis Enrique has been trying desperately to persuade Pedro to stay at the Nou Camp but it appears the player is keen to leave in order to get more first team football after falling behind Messi, Neymar and Suarez in the pecking order.

The Express claim that personal terms have already been agreed with Pedro so if a deal has now been struck between the two clubs, there is nothing left to prevent the transfer from going through and it looks like that’s the case if this report from Marca is accurate.

Sport suggested last week that Barcelona have been holding out for the full value of the 28-year-old’s €30m (£21.4m) buy-out clause but it remains to be seen if United have agreed to their demands. I have a feeling United will end up paying around £18m up front with another £3m in add ons, as that would suit all parties.

If Pedro does complete his move to Old Trafford on Wednesday, he’ll become van Gaal’s sixth major signing of the summer and I think it will prove to be an excellent piece of business.

Despite not always being a regular, Pedro has still managed to score almost a goal every 3 games and his versatility will also come in handy as he’s able to play anywhere across the attacking positions, including up front as a striker.

Let’s see how things develop over the coming days but it appears everything should become a lot clearer after Barcelona’s Super Cup clash on Tuesday, and it’s looking increasingly likely that Pedro will be wearing the famous red shirt this coming season.
