Liverpool will hope to get their top four push back on track when they take on Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and has given Liverpoolfc.com a team news and injury update.

The German coach revealed a fresh injury blow with the news that Adam Lallana is a doubt for the trip to East Anglia after picking up a minor muscle problem during the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United last weekend.

The attacking midfielder will be assessed at Liverpool’s Melwood training base today before a decision is made over his involvement against Norwich tomorrow afternoon.

Klopp told the clubs website:

“At the moment there are no new big problems but could be big enough that we have to change a few things.

“Adam Lallana is a little bit in doubt. He’s here and trained yesterday, but not normal training. He had a little issue but we have to see, we have to wait until training today to see.

“It was a little bit of a muscle [problem] only in the Manchester United game. Afterwards he needed a little bit longer to recover and now we have to see if we have enough time to bring him back.

“I think that’s the only new one. From the others, no players are back.”

It would be a blow for the Merseysiders if Lallana was to miss out as the former Southampton star has been a regular in the starting eleven since Klopp arrived back in October.

With Philippe Coutinho already certain to miss the Norwich game, Liverpool would be without another of their key creators if Lallana was ruled out so I’m sure Klopp will be hoping the 27-year-old is passed fit.

The Reds boss also gave another update on Daniel Sturridge and confirmed that while the striker has enjoyed four ‘good’ days in training this week, he still needs more time before he’ll be considered for a place in the squad.

Klopp continued:

“The last four days were really good and he could do what he had to do. In this moment he is in a good way, but still needs time. I can’t change it.

“So there’s nothing really new in this situation – it is training. But, to be honest, the last four days were good and hopefully he can do it like this for the next four or five days and then it will have been 10 days, which is better than only two.

“Then we have to see where he is and how the situation is, and we can hopefully decide if it’s time for him.”

Sturridge has endured another injury-plagued campaign and has struggled to overcome a niggling hamstring problem in recent weeks but it looks as though he could finally be closing in on making his latest comeback.

If the striker continues to train freely next week without issue, then he could put himself in contention for Liverpool’s FA Cup clash with West Ham next weekend.
