United will continue to be without Bastian Schweinsteiger as the German midfielder is still working his way back to full fitness following a niggling knee injury.

Phil Jones saw his comeback cut short after picking up a knock playing for the under-21’s on Monday night while Adnan Januzaj and Guillermo Varela all picking up injuries during the 7-0 win.

Striker Will Keane has been rewarded for his five-goal haul in that match with a place in the first team squad this weekend but Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young remain sidelined.

Sunderland will be without defender Younes Kaboul and striker Duncan Watmore as the duo are nursing ankle ligament injuries while Jermain Lens is a doubt with a hernia.

Sebastian Larsson is back in training following a knee injury but this game is likely to come too soon so he remains out along with Billy Jones. However, Fabio Borini is back in contention after recovering from a virus.
