Arsenal Or Chelsea? Striker Hints At Move After Confirming Premier League Offers

Arsenal and Chelsea target Alvaro Morata has hinted he’d be keen on playing in the Premier League after confirming he’s had tempting offers from England, according to the Evening Standard.

Morata joined Juventus from Real Madrid two years ago but the La Liga giants have the option to resign the striker for a fixed €30m (£23m) fee from June 1st and Spanish outlet AS claim Madrid have decided to exercise that clause with the intention of immediately selling the player on at a profit.

There has been no shortage of interest being shown in Morata this summer with the Sun reporting last week that Arsenal were in pole position ahead of the likes of Chelsea in the race to sign the talented hitman.

Morata has now confirmed he has ‘tempting’ offers from England and Arsenal and Chelsea have now been handed a major boost in their pursuit of the 23-year-old after he suggested he’d be keen to try his luck in the Premier League.

The striker is expected to play a key role for Spain at this summers European Championships and he’s admitted he would prefer to have his future resolved before their opening game against Czech Republic on June 13th.

Morata is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard:

“There are some offers from England that are tempting, not only by contract,”

“I think for my characteristics the Premier League would also be a great destination.

“I’m saying a move to the Premier League would not be a step backwards. With what I have learned in Italy, if I have the chance to learn something more in England I think it would make me a more complete, better player.

“I’m 23 and all I want is progress, to play and learn from the best.”

“Hopefully everything will be resolved before the 13th, Spain’s first game (against Czech Republic). Because it is uncomfortable to be here thinking about helping your country with a phone in your hand.

“Let’s see what happens at the end and where I play.”

It’s gearing up to be one of the most intriguing transfer stories of the summer and it’s going to be interesting to see where Morata ends up playing if Madrid do activate his buyback clause.

Arsenal could certainly do with another front-man after losing Danny Welbeck for nine months with a serious knee injury while new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is expected to be in the market for another striker to offer competition to Diego Costa.

Morata is a huge talent and while he may not be a prolific striker just yet having scored just 27 goals in 93 appearances for Juventus since joining the club, he has all the attributes to become one of the best forwards in the game so I think he’d be a great signing for Arsenal or Chelsea if they were able to get a deal agreed this summer.
