Man Utd vs Burnley Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Predicted Score
Man Utd entertain Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. Here is a preview with team news, line-ups, betting tips and predicted score.
Manchester United will be looking to build on their League Cup win over Manchester City when they entertain Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Jose Mourinho’s side were thrashed 4-0 by Chelsea last weekend with the humiliating defeat at Stamford Bridge seeing the Red Devils drop to seventh place in the table and six points adrift of the leaders.
However, the midweek EFL Cup win over City has eased the pressure on Mourinho’s shoulders and United can close the gap at the top of the table with all three points tomorrow afternoon.
Burnley arrive at Old Trafford sitting 14th in the table after last weekend’s impressive 2-1 victory over Everton so Sean Dyche’s side will be hoping to build on that result and pull off an upset in Manchester this weekend.
Team news
United have several injury doubts to deal with as Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are all facing late fitness tests.
Rooney has missed the last two games with a thigh injury while Rashford limped out of the League Cup win over City with his own thigh problem and both remain doubts to face Burnley.
Smalling sat out the City clash with an ankle injury but he’s expected to recover and start alongside Daley Blind at the back with Eric Bailly ruled out for two months.
Martial also missed the midweek game with a minor foot injury but the French international is likely to be passed fit to start on the left wing.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is fit and available for selection but Mourinho confirmed today the playmaker is being held back as he doesn’t feel the Armenian is ready for Premier League football just yet.
Burnley expect George Boyd and Stephen Ward to be fit for the trip to United while Seven Defour will need a late fitness test on a hamstring injury.

Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Man Utd 2-0 Burnley: It was vital that United beat City in midweek and that result should give them a much-needed morale boost heading in to this game. Burnley have been inconsistent so far this season and although they could cause some problems if they turn up, I can see the home side easing to a 2-0 victory.
