Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool have agreed to sign Dominic Solanke…
Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Dominic Solanke to sign the striker when his contract with Chelsea expires in June, the Merseysiders have confirmed on Liverpoolfc.com this evening.
Solanke has been with Chelsea his entire career having joined the club as a seven year old and was regarded as one of the most exciting young talents to have progressed through their youth ranks.
His impressive performances have helped the Chelsea youngsters win two FA Youth Cups and the UEFA Youth League while he was also named as the England Youth Players of the Year in 2014.
However, Solanke has struggled to make the breakthrough in to the first team set-up and failed to make a single appearance for Antonio Conte’s side last season after making it clear he wouldn’t sign a new contract.
The 19-year-old’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June and he’s been in talks with several clubs about a move this summer but Liverpool have now won the race for his signature.
The Reds confirmed on Liverpoolfc.com today that they have agreed personal terms with Solanke and the striker will complete his move to Anfield on July 1st.
A statement read:
Liverpool FC have agreed personal terms with Dominic Solanke to sign the England youth international this summer.
The 19-year-old striker will complete the transfer to the Reds on July 1, 2017, upon the expiry of his contract with his current club, Chelsea.
As the player is under 24, Chelsea will be due development compensation and the Mirror claim that Liverpool are hoping to pay £3m in order to avoid the case going to a transfer tribunal.
However, it looks like the two Premier League giants remain miles apart in their valuations of the forward as the newspaper says Chelsea value Solanke at closer to £8m.
We’ll have to wait and see whether the two clubs are able to settle on a fee but Solanke is heading to Liverpool and I think the Merseysiders are getting their hands on an exciting young talent.

The England under-21 international will still face plenty of competition for places at Anfield but he should have more first team chances and I’m sure Jurgen Klopp will give him an opportunity to fulfill his huge potential.
