The Manchester City squad have been celebrating widely in the Old Trafford changing room after securing a vital 2-1 victory over Manchester United this afternoon.
City dominated for long periods at the home of their rivals and opened the scoring in the 43rd minute when David Silva scored from close range following a corner.
United grabbed an equaliser on the stroke of half-time when slack defending from Fabian Delph allowed Marcus Rashford the chance to slot home for 1-1 in first half stoppage time.
However, City continued to press after the break and scored what turned out to be the winner when Nicolas Otamendi volleyed home following a poor clearance from Romelu Lukaku.
The victory means City have now won their last 14 league games on the bounce and extend their lead over United at the top of the table to 11 points as we approach the half-way stage of the season.
It’s a huge lead for Pep Guardiola’s team to hold and they are in ominous form so you’d be a fool to back against City going on to lift the title this campaign.
Understandably, the players are in buoyant mood after such an important win and they’ve been sharing photos of the squad celebrating with confetti in the changing room after the game.
