[Tweet] ‘Just Go’ – Arsenal Shareholder Sends Message To Wenger After FA Cup Defeat

Arsenal shareholder and television presenter Piers Morgan sent a blunt message to Arsene Wenger after we crashed out of the FA Cup with a 4-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest today.

It was another day to forget as Forest took an early lead at the City Ground thanks to some woeful Arsenal defending before we levelled things up via a tidy finish from Per Mertesacker.

Forest restored their lead just before half-time with a stunning volley and made it 3-1 from the penalty spot after Rob Holding had given away a spot kick midway through the second half.

Danny Welbeck pulled one back before the hosts sealed a 4-2 win in controversial circumstances. First, Mathieu Debuchy was adjudged to have committed a foul in the area despite replay’s suggesting he got the ball. Then, the resulting penalty shouldn’t have stood as the Kieran Dowell double-kicked the ball as he slipped while taking the penalty.

Despite the poor decisions, Arsenal were well below their best and didn’t deserve anything from the game so rightly crashed out of the FA Cup at the third round stage for the first time in 21 years.

Understandably, fans have been venting their frustration on social media and Morgan is one such supporter who’s sent a blunt message to Wenger on Twitter this evening.

Morgan – who is extremely vocal with his Arsenal views on Twitter and is seriously in the ‘WengerOut’ camp – called on the boss to show some ‘self respect’ and step down as manager after destroying his legacy.

The well-known TV presenter is a life-long Arsenal fan and shareholder and it’s difficult to argue with him on this issue. Arsenal have been in a steady decline in recent years and it’s certainly time for a change in direction at the club.

Wenger will still have one year left on his contract this summer and he’s always said he’ll honour his contracts so it will probably be down to the owner ‘Silent Stan’ to sack him. However, we all know that’s highly unlikely to happen so we’ll have to put up with at least another year of this mess.
