[Video] Wenger Confirms Aubameyang Has Completed £55m Move To Arsenal
Arsenal have announced the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after uploading a video to Arsenal.com of Wenger confirming the striker has joined the club.
The January transfer window is coming to a close so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has joined Arsenal….
Arsenal have accidentally announced the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after uploading a video to Arsenal.com of Arsene Wenger confirming the striker has joined the club.
We’ve been locked in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund for over a week after a delegation flew-out to Germany to thrash out a deal for the Gabon international.
After seeing at least two bids knocked back we finally reached an agreement with Kicker the first to report that a deal worth around £55m had been settled between the two clubs and Aubameyang had also agreed personal terms with Arsenal.
The 28-year-old flew over to London via private jet on Tuesday afternoon and Sky Sports News showed footage of the striker arriving at London Colney to finalise his move.
The transfer reportedly hinged on Dortmund finding a replacement and the Mirror claimed that the German giants had a deal in place to sign Michy Batshuayi on loan with Olivier Giroud heading to Chelsea for £18m.
However, despite these reports, Giroud still came off the bench during our 3-1 defeat at Swansea last night and Wenger insisted after the game that a final decision over the Frenchman’s future hadn’t been made yet.
That appeared to cast doubt over Aubameyang’s move to Arsenal as the media led us to believe that we could only finalise his deal if Giroud joined Chelsea as that would allow Batshuayi to move to Dortmund.

However, it seems our deal for Aubameyang may not be dependent on other deals as a video of Wenger confirming the strikers arrival was accidentally uploaded to Arsenal.com late last night.
In the video – which you can watch above and has since been removed from the clubs website – when asked about Aubameyang joining Arsenal, Wenger said:
“Yes it’s good news. We need people that can give us more offensive power, at the moment we are not efficient enough going forward and I’m convinced he will bring us that.
“He has a big challenge in front of him, he wants to do well in the Premier League and overall I believe he is welcome and that’s absolutely good news for us.”

The chances are Giroud will still join Chelsea with Batshuayi heading to Germany but one thing that looks certain is that Aubameyang is an Arsenal player and the transfer should be officially announced soon.
