Manchester United have submitted a fresh offer worth £45m plus either Marcos Rojo or Matteo Darmian for Issa Diop but West Ham are holding out for more, according to France Football.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is trying to strengthen his squad this summer following a disappointing campaign and United need to overhaul their defence after conceding 54 goals in their 38 Premier League games last season.
A new long-term partner for Victor Lindelof is required as United need an upgrade on the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly and they’ve been linked with the likes of Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt and Kalidou Koulibaly in recent weeks.
Diop then emerged as a target earlier this month after widespread reports suggested Man Utd had expressed their interest in signing the 22-year-old having seen an opening offer knocked back by West Ham.
It looks like the Manchester giants have tested West Ham’s resolve once again as France Football claims United have gone back and offered £45m plus the chance to have Darmian or Rojo as part of the cash-plus-player deal.
However, it seems Man Utd will have to come up with something more tempting as the French publication says West Ham have rejected the deal and are demanding a staggering £75m [€84m] for Diop’s signature.
The French Under-21 international enjoyed a superb debut campaign in the Premier League after joining West Ham from Toulouse for £22m last summer so understandably the Londoners are desperate to keep hold of him.
Diop is under contract at the London Stadium until 2023 so the Hammers are under no pressure to sell but France Football suggest they may end up being forced to cash-in if Man Utd up their offer to around £58m [€65m].

It remains to be seen whether United will be prepared to go that high for the young centre-back but I think Diop would be an excellent addition to Solskjaer’s squad if they could get a deal agreed to take him to Old Trafford this summer.
