The Leicester City trip could define Arsenal’s success in 2020

Arsenal face a season-defining game as they head to the King Power to take on Leicester City on Saturday night.
It’s been a nightmare few weeks for Arsenal as they crashed out of the League Cup after blowing a two-goal lead twice at Liverpool and have slipped out of the top four having taken just two points from their last three Premier League matches.
The pressure is firmly on Unai Emery’s shoulders as fans are growing increasingly unhappy with how he’s managing the club and failure to beat Leicester this weekend would see calls for him to leave gather pace.
Arsenal currently sit fifth in the table – six points off third-placed Leicester and fourth-placed Chelsea. The Blues are expected to beat Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge tomorrow so a Leicester win would see Arsenal fall nine points off the top four.
Even at the best of times that would be a big gap to close but for a club like Arsenal who are in total disarray right now, it could prove to be an impossible task. The Gunners are struggling to score goals, their defence continues to be woeful and the dressing room has been split after Granit Xhaka was stripped of the captaincy following his public bust-up with his own fans last month.
So defeat at Leicester City this weekend could spell another year without Champions League football in 2020 as it would give Arsenal a mountain to climb to finish in the top four this season.
Liverpool and Man City are virtually nailed on to be the top two so Arsenal are battling to finish in one of the remaining two places. Chelsea are currently the bookies favourites to finish third as they are priced at 1/3 to finish in the top four. Leicester are now the fourth favourites at 8/11 while Arsenal are a distant fifth at odds of 5/2 to snatch a top four place.
I actually think they are generous odds considering there are still 27 games left to go and a win on Saturday would see Arsenal move to within just three points of Leicester. Any Arsenal fans tempted to take those odds should also claim a 200% casino bonus 2020 to make the most of their money. You can be sure the odds on Arsenal finishing in the top four will be slashed if they win at the King Power tomorrow.
It’s going to be a fascinating match and Emery will have to get his players organised quickly if they’re to get a result as Arsenal have blown leads in each of their last four matches and Leicester have been in excellent form this season.
