MANCHESTER UNITED MISSING THREE BUT VIDIC RETURNS FOR EVERTON
By Football Talk.
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney returns to former club Everton on Saturday in red-hot form as he aims to fire United back to the top of the Premier League table.
All eyes will be on Rooney, who scored two goals against AC Milan in mid-week taking him past the 30 goal mark for the first time in his career, to see if the former Everton forward can continue his impressive scoring streak that has seen him score 13 goals in his last 14 games. Victory would see United overtake Chelsea who play Man City on Sunday.
Sir Alex Ferguson will be wary though as David Moyes men have been in impressive form themselves recently including beating Chelsea 2-1 last week. However, Goodison Park has been a favourite venue for the champions, claiming 13 victories there during the Premier League era.
Everton have concerns over Tim Cahill who faces a late fitness test on a calf injury he picked up in the 2-1 Europa League victory over Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday.
Definitely out is influential midfielder Marouane Fellani who has been ruled out for the season with an ankle injury sustained against Liverpool. Tony Hibbert is also out while Phillipe Senderos and Victor Anichebe are both doubts.
Manchester United welcome back Nemanja Vidic after the defender has been ruled out since the start of the year with a nerve problem.
Rio Ferdinand will miss out as he continues his four-match domestic ban while Nani begins his own three-match suspension following his sending off against Aston Villa.
Ryan Giggs will also be unavailable as he recovers from a fractured arm.
Probable Man Utd Team: Van der Sar, Evra, Vidic, Evans, Rafael, Scholes, Carrick, Fletcher, Valencia, Park, Rooney.
