[VIDEO TRIBUTE] Bryan Robson aka Captain Marvel
Bryan Robson was one of few shining stars at Manchester United in the 80′s. He signed from West Brom in 1981, overcoming 3 leg breaks in a year for the Baggies, a then record signing for £1.5 million and went on to show his true worth and become undoubtedly the player of the decade for Man United.
During Robsons’ career at United he overcame injury after injury, gained from the sheer ferocity he had in his game. He was not only good at the dogged stuff like tackling and tracking back but he had a superb range of passing and a great eye for goal that saw him score over a hundred league goals in his career.
During his time at United Robson won 3 FA Cups, 1 League Cup, the Uefa Cup Winners Cup and Super Cup the following year.
He also was still captain of the squad that ended the 26 year league wait, winning the inaugraul Premier League title. Despite not playing as much as he would have liked he overcame various injuries and obstacles to gain his place back in the side towards the end of the season although he did however lose his coveted number 7 shirt to the illustrious Eric Cantona.
In his final season at United Robson again started very few games but captained the side alongside Steve Bruce to the league and cup double. When called upon he, as he always had, gave nothing but 110%.
Bryan Robson was part of the foundations that Alex Ferguson laid at Man Utd when he first joined the club. Fittingly, not many players from Ron Atkinsons time survived the squad that Fergie built but Bryan Robson did and went onto to play his part and captain the side to the first Premier League.
For United fans he will be forever known as Captain Marvel and we here at Glory Glory Man Utd wish him a speedy recovery! Below is a video of some of Bryan Robsons goals from his Manchester United days, enjoy!
