Manchester United target Aurelien Tchouameni now willing to leave Real Madrid this summer

With less than two weeks to go until the summer transfer window comes to a close, Manchester United remain keen on another midfielder’s signing having already made contact with Brighton & Hove Albion for Carlos Baleba.

It has now emerged that one more of their targets could be on the move this summer as Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon has reported that Aurelien Tchouameni might consider his future at Real Madrid.

Jose Mourinho has refused to provide the Frenchman assurances over his role in the squad, as per the source, which has made him reconsider his continuity at the Bernabeu, therefore opening the door for Man United to bring him in.

Madrid and Tchouameni recently extended their association till 2031, but if the midfielder wishes to depart the Spanish capital, it is unlikely that Los Blancos will stand in his way. The 26-year-old is valued at £60 million on Transfermarkt.

Tchouameni an excellent acquisition for United

Real Madrid have excluded Aurelien Tchouameni from their squad for their La Liga opener against Espanyol on Saturday as he recovers from an injury, but Manchester United could leverage the situation to test the waters over a transfer for him.

Aurelien Tchouameni would be a fantastic addition to the Red Devils’ squad. His physicality, aerial prowess, man-marking, interceptions and tackling make him a complete defensive midfielder, who is also composed and comfortable on the ball.

In addition to excelling as a number six, Tchouameni can play as a central defender and contributes higher up the pitch too thanks to his long-range shooting and heading from set pieces. That said, his transfer remains a strong possibility.

Given that Jose Mourinho is believed to want another centre back and creative midfielder, a full Real Madrid squad now requires some players to leave and Tchouameni could be used as the cash crop to balance the La Liga side’s roster and fund new arrivals.

Manchester United will remain alert to developments around Tchouameni’s future and with funds already at hand to afford him, it will be interesting to see whether the former AS Monaco star becomes their priority over Carlos Baleba, subject to his availability on the market.
