Chelsea are reportedly planning to launch a formal proposal to sign AFC Bournemouth star Alex Scott, as per TEAMtalk.
Following Andrey Santos’ move to Manchester United, the Blues currently have Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernández, Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo as midfield options. Moreover, Xabi Alonso’s side have signed Jordan Henderson to add experience to the squad.
However, Lavia and Essugo have struggled with fitness problems over the last 12 months, while Fernández has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City.
TEAMtalk state that Manchester City don’t want to sign the Argentinian international by matching Chelsea’s £120m price tag. Still, they remain in talks with the player’s representatives over a potential move this summer.
The West London club might agree to sell if their valuation is met with add-ons, with his existing deal set to run until 2032. So, Chelsea have started exploring options to replace Fernández.
They are interested in AS Monaco star Lamine Camara and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton. However, Scott is their primary target, and they have already seen their £64m bid for the Englishman rejected by the Cherries.
The report claim that Bournemouth don’t want to sell Scott and have already offered him a new long-term contract, with his existing deal set to run until 2028.

However, the 23-year-old is ready to take the next step in his career; therefore, he has rejected the proposal. So, Chelsea are prepared to test Bournemouth’s resolve by launching a new formal bid late in this window and are ready to spend around £85m.
Scott is a technically gifted box-to-box midfielder by trait but can provide cover in the defensive midfield and CAM roles. He is quick, strong, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the ability to play threading passes between the lines, and is efficient in defensive contributions.
The Englishman is a Premier League-proven player and hasn’t reached his prime yet. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for the Blues should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Alonso’s side can eventually manage to lure him to Stamford Bridge before next week’s transfer deadline.
