Liverpool remain intent on signing Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain and with the player also believed to be keen on pursuing a new challenge with more regular game time under his belt, the deal is very much on for this summer.
Graeme Bailey has reported that Liverpool have now reached a huge breakthrough in their attempt to sign Barcola from PSG as the Ligue 1 side has now slashed its asking price for the Frenchman to £120 million from an initial £145 million.
While personal terms for Barcola have already been in place between the forward and the Reds, there was no agreement between the concerned clubs over a transfer fee but the Parisians’ change in stance means they are now closer to striking a deal.
Barcola has yet to play for PSG this season and although he has not publicly expressed a desire to leave, Luis Enrique said last week that considering the 23-year-old’s dissatisfaction over his role, it may be best for him to depart the club.
Terrific signing for Liverpool
As Liverpool’s capture of Bradley Barcola now looks imminent, the French international promises to be a superb addition to their squad and a player they can bank on for consistent returns in the final third for the longer run.
Barcola has been key to Paris Saint-Germain’s success over the last couple of years as a fringe player, but with decent numbers up top in limited minutes, it will be exciting to see what he is able to do with a regular place in the starting eleven.
Liverpool are hesitant in selling Cody Gakpo despite interest from Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, so Barcola might be entrusted with a role on the right flank rather than the left, but that is academic in the grand scheme of things considering his ability to return output across all offensive positions.
