Over the last few seasons, Cody Gakpo was utilised by Liverpool on the left wing and down the middle, but his skills as a number nine have been redundant over the last few months with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike available to the club.
Bradley Barcola’s signing has not translated into adequate squad depth for the Reds, so Pedro Neto would be a decent acquisition in the ongoing transfer window and valued at £51 million on Transfermarkt, his addition would be cost-effective as well.
Much like Barcola, Neto is also capable of playing on both flanks, is fast and can create high-quality chances up top. He presses well and tracks back without the ball, therefore the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star would be a good fit at Liverpool.
While Liverpool and Chelsea are said to be in talks for Neto, it remains to be seen if Xabi Alonso is prepared to sell the 26-year-old in what is left of the transfer window, especially without much time on hand to sign his replacement.
