Arsenal have made a 100% start to the Premier League season with wins over Coventry City and Aston Villa, with two clean sheets in as many matches. However, with the transfer window ending, their left wing remains understaffed.
Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli have both been sold, and Christos Tzolis has been a decent start to life in London but lacks the experience that a team looking to win the English Premiership and Champions League requires.
Graeme Bailey has reported that despite only few hours remaining in the ongoing transfer window, Arsenal are still keen on signing Atletico Madrid hitman Julian Alvarez and are prepared to offer him some crucial assurances.
Considering Alvarez was dreaming of joining Barcelona for much of the summer, Arsenal are ready to insert a clause which would allow him to depart for Catalonia some time down the line while also sponsoring visas for his extending family to accompany living him in London.
Race against time to get a deal done
Less than eight hours remain between now and the end of the summer transfer window, so Arsenal face a battle against the clock in their bid to secure Julian Alvarez’s services from Atletico Madrid, who value him at £128 million.
Having said that, the 26-year-old would be an excellent signing for the Gunners and his consistent returns up top as well as the ability to play across numerous positions in the final third will significantly bolster Mikel Arteta’s offensive qualities.
That’s not to say Arsenal will end up acquiring him today, however, as Fabrizio Romano has claimed on a related note that Alvarez is now likely to stay put at Atletico Madrid having trained with the La Liga outfit earlier this morning.
It is likely that the Argentine international will push for a transfer once more when the January transfer window begins and with Atletico likely to turn down Barcelona’s interest even then, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal remain keen on him.
