Manchester United offered chance to sign Atletico Madrid hitman Alexander Sorloth

Manchester United beat Ipswich Town 5-2 at the weekend to bag their first Premier League win of the season. Bruno Fernandes chipped in with a hat-trick, while an own goal and Bryan Mbeumo added one apiece on the scoreboard.

Interestingly, Benjamin Sesko was not in the starting eleven for the Red Devils at the weekend and with Joshua Zirkzee also unlikely to be part of Michael Carrick’s plans for the season, there may be a late offensive addition on the cards.

Caught Offside has reported that Manchester United have been offered the opportunity to sign Atletico Madrid hitman Alexander Sorloth by intermediaries, and it is believed that they are considering the Norwegian international’s purchase.

While Sorloth is not pushing to leave Atletico, a move to the Premier League could be an appealing proposition, especially if that means playing more regularly. He is valued at £30 million, a transfer fee United can comfortably afford.

Solid addition for Man United

Alexander Sorloth promises to be a vital purchase for Manchester United if indeed they plan on making an offer for him as they require an imposing presence in the final third to compete with Benjamin Sesko for the season.

The former Villarreal star is nearly six and a half feet tall, possesses a commanding physique and can hold off defenders in the box. His intelligent positioning, powerful finishing and aerial prowess make him the perfect number nine for English football.

Unlike Man United’s current number nines, Sorloth has a track record of consistently performing against the bigger opponents in La Liga and the Champions League, which would be important for the Red Devils given they need influential players besides Bruno Fernandes.

Personal terms between United and Sorloth are unlikely to be an issue but it remains to be seen if Atletico Madrid will be willing to let go of him so late in the transfer window.
