Chelsea & Tottenham keen on signing Tornike Kvaratskhelia

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing Dinamo Tbilisi youngster Tornike Kvaratskhelia, as per TEAMtalk.

Having endured a dire campaign last term, the Lilywhites splashed a huge amount of money this summer to overhaul the squad and help Roberto De Zerbi achieve success this season.

After revamping the backline and midfield departments quickly, Spurs shifted focus to upgrading the frontline. They signed Omar Marmoush and Savio from Manchester City to strengthen the striker and right-wing positions, respectively.

However, Tottenham couldn’t bolster the left flank with their desired target. They identified Cody Gakpo and Iliman Ndiaye as primary options, but Ndiaye decided to join Man City, while Gakpo opted to stay at Liverpool.

Ultimately, the North London club signed Mykhailo Mudryk on loan from Chelsea on deadline day. Having been sidelined for around two years after being found guilty of breaching doping rules, he has now been cleared to return to football.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that after being impressed by Kvaratskhelia’s recent development at Dinamo Tbilisi, Tottenham have been at the forefront of English interest in signing him.

The 16-year-old is the younger brother of Paris Saint-Germain superstar, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Apart from the Lilywhites, Chelsea are also leading the Premier League interest in him.

The report state that Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Brighton and Hove Albion and Aston Villa are also in this race and have made contact over this deal. Moreover, Arsenal and Newcastle United are fully aware of his current situation.

However, English clubs cannot sign him until he turns 18, which will happen in 2028. Moreover, Bayern Munich are currently leading the race to sign him after Kvaratskhelia spent time training with the Bavarian club earlier this summer.

After letting Alejandro Garnacho leave, Chelsea decided to reinforce the left flank by purchasing Morgan Rogers this summer. Moreover, Xabi Alonso has Jamie Gittens as an option to deploy in this area.

Like Khvicha, Tornike is also a right-footed left-winger and has already been playing regularly for Dinamo Tbilisi’s first team at this tender age. He is a highly talented player and could be a shrewd acquisition for Tottenham or Chelsea should either club eventually manage to purchase him.
