Manchester United are set to travel to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.
Having started the new campaign with a disappointing defeat against newly promoted side Hull City, the Red Devils returned to winning ways by thrashing Ipswich Town.
However, after losing to Manchester City last weekend, they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Brighton and Hove Albion in midweek. So, Michael Carrick’s side are currently in a difficult situation, languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table with four points from as many matches.
On the other hand, following Marco Silva’s departure, Fulham have appointed Alvaro Arbeloa as the new manager but have started the new season poorly, failing to find a win in the league yet.
Team news
Matthijs de Ligt, Amad Diallo and Manuel Ugarte remain sidelined due to their respective fitness problems. On the other hand, Carlos Baleba has joined with an ankle problem from Brighton this summer but is edging closer to returning to full fitness.
There is even a possibility that he could be named in the matchday squad this weekend. Luke Shaw has been out due to a minor problem in recent days, and he is in doubt for this game.
Predicted line-up
Carrick made a few changes to his starting line-up in midweek and is likely to recall all of the stars in this game. So, Senne Lammens is set to be in goal ahead of Karl Darlow.
Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martínez should be the centre-back pairing for the Old Trafford club, while Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui might be the two fullbacks. In that case, Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu would have to make do with a place on the bench.
Youri Tielemans is expected to continue in the deep-lying playmaker position, and Kobbie Mainoo should start alongside the Belgian in the midfield position.
Bruno Fernandes would be the creative midfielder for United; therefore, Andrey Santos and Mason Mount would be among the substitutes.
Matheus Cunha could be deployed on the left flank, and Bryan Mbeumo might be on the opposite side. Benjamin Sesko is expected to lead the line for the visitors. So, Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee could feature as substitutes if needed.
