Tottenham now eyeing move for Frankfurt star Younes Ebnoutalib

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Eintracht Frankfurt centre-forward Younes Ebnoutalib ahead of a possible move, according to TEAMtalk.
Frankfurt are renowned for unearthing and developing some of Europe’s best centre-forwards, who have gone on to play for some of the biggest clubs.
In recent years, some of the most coveted forwards, including Luca Jovic, André Silva, Sebastien Haller, Randal Kolo Muani, Omar Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike, have been on their books.
The latest name who could follow the same route is Ebnoutalib, who has begun the ongoing season in terrific goal-scoring form.
He joined Frankfurt in January from newly promoted and last season’s Bundesliga 2 runner-up SV Elversberg, where he netted 12 goals in 17 matches in the first half of last campaign.
After a slow start to life, scoring just one goal for Frankfurt, Ebnoutalib, valued at £15m by Transfermarkt, has emerged as one of Germany’s most prolific centre-forwards this season, with eight goal contributions.
Now, according to TEAMtalk, Tottenham are closely monitoring Ebnoutalib’s performances ahead of a potential swoop.
The report adds that Spurs’ scouts were at Deutsche Bank Park for Frankfurt’s 1-0 win over Cologne last Friday to monitor their loanee Mickey Moore and also used the opportunity to watch Ebnoutalib, who scored the decisive goal.
Prolific forward
Having netted the joint second most goals in the Bundesliga this campaign, the 6ft 3in centre-forward will undoubtedly attract keen interest.
While TEAMtalk does not mention the other clubs showing interest in the 23-year-old, the report reveals that Tottenham are among those closely watching his development in Germany ahead of a possible transfer
Given Frankfurt’s history of selling their top prospects for significant fees, European football expert Andy Brassell believes, in an interview with talkSPORT, that the departure of their sporting director, Marcus Krösche, will likely reduce Ebnoutalib’s valuation.
He said, ‘I guess the question I would like to know the answer to, and we’re going to find out in the next six to twelve months, is once Krösche’s out the door, do players still have that feeling about them?
‘So I think for those reasons, even if he’s not ready, even if he’s like a prospect for the future, even if he’s a stash pick or whatever, maybe this is the right time for Tottenham to make a move.
‘In terms of him being the finished article, Ebnoutaleb, to help them now, or to help them in January, to take them to that next level, I don’t think he’s ready.’
Tottenham will hope to secure back-to-back Premier League wins when they travel to West London to face rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
